According to many sources, Vancouver ranks inside the top 10 dog friendly cities in North America! While not Canada’s largest city, it is popular and sought-after destinations due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and Rocky Mountains.

Vancouver has a strong outdoor adventure lifestyle which bodes well for our canine friends. Vancouver proper has a population of close to 700,000 while the Greater Vancouver Area is home to approximately 2.5 million.

The city reports a dog population in excess of 150,000! There are 37 official off-leash dog parks and a variety of outdoor terrain for dogs to explore, all within a short drive of downtown!

Home to more than 3 million people, Toronto is Canada’s largest city by population. Toronto proper is home to more than 230,000 dogs while there are over 500,000 in the GTA!

The city of Toronto has 65 designated off-leash dog parks. Including the suburban communities, this number easily doubles which makes the GTA a dog friendly place to live. In recent years, Alberta has become a hub for craft breweries. Many of these brewpubs not only allow dogs, but frankly encourage their attendance!
